How the Process Works
The 'Support & Re-Engagement Package' is a 3-step intervention process that focuses on understanding the young person's strengths and support needs, identifies barriers impacting functional school engagement and creates a personalised plan with practical, capacity building strategies to support gradual and supported re-engagement with education.
More details below.
The 'Support and Re-Engagement Package' Explained
Session 1 - 45 min
Understanding the Young Person
Following on from a free 15min phone consult
This session focuses on getting to know the young person and their unique situation: developing an understanding of the young person's:
- strengths, interests and existing capacities
- history of functional challenges impacting school participation and attendance
- current school attendance patterns
- family context and concerns
- goals for the future
Parents / carers are encouraged to share relevant background information.
Session 2 - 45 min
Identifying Barriers
In this session we continue to work together to unpack and understand possible barriers contributing to school disengagement and are impacting access to education. This could include: emotional regulation, anxiety or behavioural factors, specific learning or environmental needs.
Following this session, results will be analysed and the information used to begin the process of developing targeted, personalised strategies that build capacity, support independence and /or improve emotional regulation or coping strategies.
Session 3 - 45 min
Strategy Development & Documentation
This session provides families with a personalised plan to move forward. It delivers individualised strategies tailored to the young person's and family's needs.
Session 3 also includes a written report or supporting documentation outlining recommendations which can be shared with schools or other professionals.
The desired outcome is a clear, structured pathway to support re-engagement with education.
