Frequently asked questions
Can I use NDIS funding for your school refusal consultancy services?
Yes, if you are Self-Managed or Plan-Managed. You can typically claim sessions under your Capacity Building budget (Development of Daily Living and Life Skills). I can invoice your Plan Manager directly. I cannot accept NDIA-Managed funds
What if my child refuses to leave their bedroom or meet with you?
I can facilitate online sessions initially. We only introduce a young person to face to face sessions when they feel safe and ready.
Can you attend school meetings with me?
Yes. Navigating school systems during a crisis can be exhausting. I can review proposed return-to-school plans, suggest reasonable adjustments and attend Student Support Group meetings with you as your professional advocate.
Can you provide a formal diagnosis?
No. As an Educational Consultant, I do not issue formal medical or psychological diagnoses. Instead, I identify learning gaps and flag sensory or behavioral traits that impact school attendance. If a formal clinical diagnosis is required, my detailed educational reports provide the evidence needed to fast-track a referral to a registered psychologist or pediatrician, potentially saving you time and duplicate testing costs.
What should I bring to the appointment?
You don't need to bring anything specific to your first session. However, if you have any relevant school reports, previous assessments, data or official diagnosis documentation that you think would be helpful, please feel free to bring them along. These can be helpful in giving us a clearer picture right from the start.
